In 2001, Michaela qualified to referee on the World Snooker Tour, becoming the sport's highest-profile female referee for the next 14 years. Notably, she was the first woman to officiate at a professional ranking snooker tournament in 2002 and the first to referee a World Snooker Championship final in 2009 and again in 2012.
